Shower Renovation, Lighting Upgrade, & Frameless Glass Install in Palm Harbor

Some of the best advertisement a contractor can get for their company is a return customer. DCI recently did a full home renovation for a client that included a kitchen, master bathroom, and flooring install throughout the home. For this project, we tackled a couple of areas around the home that were left untouched. During out last visit, we didn’t renovate the guest bathroom shower. It was small and uninviting. The guest bathroom was also plagued by having an exterior entrance that took away from the size of the shower and the beauty of the bathroom. We closed in the second access door and an existing closet in the garage to allow us to create a much more useful space for the shower. Our client had a very specific idea of what he wanted the shower to look like and I feel like we delivered. This shower features an overhead rain head, a four position custom shower valve, a custom wall niche, and a frameless glass surround.  Other parts of this project were adding additional lighting to the dining room area to match the already renovated kitchen area. Also, we added a beautiful frameless glass door to the already renovated master bathroom.

Welcome to Disaster Castle

Hey Everyone!

This is Caroline and I do the marketing for DCI. I also happen to be married to one of the owners, Jeff. He's the bearded fellow you will meet when you call us for an estimate. This will come into play in this series of blog posts because Jeff and I just bought a house. A house that I have half jokingly/half seriously named Disaster Castle.

I wanted to blog about the renovations we are doing on this house so that others can get a feel for what a remodel is like. As we are getting into this demolition and remodel I feel even more strongly about sharing our story. There is a reason I call it Disaster Castle! Now, before I get ahead of myself, let's start at the beginning...

We had been looking for a home with a few acres but were unable to find anything we truly liked. We did find possible places but they were out of our price range and would need extensive work. In light of this, we started looking at houses in older neighborhoods. I did not want a "cookie cutter" home. I like places with character that don't blend in with all the other houses. I also don't want my home right on top of my neighbors' homes. So, yeah, thanks to my requirements we again ran into not finding places in our budget that we truly liked or could work with easily.

Then we found it. Our happy/overwhelming disaster that could be made over into a perfect home fairly easily.

The house is in historic downtown New Port Richey just off the river. It's two bed, two bath, built in 1985 with no upkeep or renovation since it was built. We made the decision to gut it and start over before we move in so we could disrupt our lives as little as possible (if you have this option, TAKE IT!!!!). That said, thus far this house has been a journey and a half. I keep telling myself that it will be gorgeous and soon, but I often wonder if that is truly the case because there is so much to do.

I've attached photos that I admittedly borrowed from the internet.  I realized going through photos that we didn't really take many intact before photos.  The landscaping out front in the picture must have gone by the wayside long ago, because there is no grass and everything was very overgrown.  The kitchen is ever so '80s and not in a cool way.  The bathrooms and bedrooms were GROSS.  And the laminate floors (seen in living room with those tragically epic mirrors on the wall) had carpet padding under it, giving the impression that the sub floor was compromised.  Welcome home, welcome to the disaster!

Double Bathroom Remodel in Seminole

We had the pleasure of being chosen by a client to perform two new bathroom projects in their home in Seminole. The house was built in the 1970's and was in need of some updating. The house wasn't big and neither were the bathroom areas. In an effort to give the spaces not only new fresh life, but also figure out a way to better make use of the available space. We took the task and delivered. The guest room was updated with new tile throughout, a brand new porcelain coated steel tub, a new vanity, as well as new vanity lighting and treatments. The master bathroom we updated by relocating the shower to a better, more modern height, added large wall tiles to give the illusion of more space, added a teak and stainless wall mounted seat, as well as the new beautiful vanity and everything that accompanied it. The result: A couple of fantastic new rooms that our clients will be able to enjoy for years to come.

French Door Installation in Oldsmar

The best type of lead that a contractor can receive is a repeat customer. We strive to produce the absolute best product for our clients because we not only want to win their current project but all projects in the future. This project was one of those repeat customers. This client asked us back after their bathroom remodel to install a grand new French Door to their outdoor patio and deck area. We installed the grand new fiberglass no maintenance exterior door with side lights. This door turned a dated and plain sitting space into a showcase area where the homeowners can entertain guests while enjoying a beautiful setting.

Bathroom Remodel in Oldsmar

Recently, we completed this beautiful bathroom remodel for a wonderful couple in Oldsmar. The tuscany inspired renovation transformed a late 20th century bathroom into a work of art. The original design of this bathroom featured a dark, cave-like enclosed shower as well as an oversized whirlpool bathtub. The bath had never functioned since the clients purchased the home. The client had a vision in their mind of what they wanted to accomplish in this space. We listened to their needs, collaborated with the clients and came up with a new design that the client fell in love with on paper. We made it a reality.

Over the course of three weeks, our skilled team worked diligently to bring this project to light. The process started with demolishing the existing shower and bath areas and framing the new space. Next, tile was installed with precision and care. The new bathtub took up less real estate in the bathroom, which allowed for finishing touches like the center floor medallion tiles. This bathroom's piéce de résistance was the eight foot tall frameless glass walls and door. Upon project completion, the client asked us install a new countertop in their guest bathroom. With one stunning bathroom they wanted to liven up the other bathroom. Once complete, this project turned out to be one of the most stunning projects we've ever had the chance to complete.
